I always remember Mom cooking. Mom expressed her joy, anxiety, celebration and all her feelings with food. Food was love, comfort and home to her. What she could not say with words, she said with food. She grew up without a Mom and not much love in the most desperate time in America. An old lady named Mandy Rose fed her when she had no food at home. Mandy Rose was in her 90's when she gave Mom love and warmth when there was none at home. My mom had dresses made out of coat lining and shoes with holes. She survived more than most of us could. She was the most determined person I have ever met. She survived more operations and hospitalizations than anyone thought possible. She fought to be here until the end, she did not want to leave her family. I love you with all my soul and I don't know if I can ever stop crying for my Mom. I can imagine mom walking down the country road with her brothers and sisters singing their favorite songs in heaven.Your daughter Connie

Good times and memories with my Aunt Jean. She was a great cook. One time she was cooking using the pressure cooker and it blew up. Food was all over the walls and everywhere. It's funny now but I know she was not laughing.
