Alexandra Melanie Bentancourt Gallegos, 20, of Henrico County passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at her home.
Alexandra was born on July 9, 2003, in Brooklyn, NY. She was 8 months old when she moved to Henrico. Alexandra attended Henrico County Public Schools up until her last moments of high school. She graduated from Lee-Davis High School, now known as Mechanicsville High School. She continued her studies at Reynolds Community College and had been accepted into and was planning on continuing into VCU’s Nursing Program.
Alexandra leaves behind a 1-year-old child, Evelyn Bentancourt Nelson; her mother, Raida Gallegos Fernandez; and her 7-year-old brother, Noah Valentin Gallegos.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Friday, October 27, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 8200 Woodman Rd, Henrico, VA 23228. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Park.
I am so sorry for this family’s loss, we are neighbors. I only met Alexandra a couple times, but immediately knew she was a sweet person. We have gotten to know Noah a little bit this summer, he helped me search for a stray cat, he is the sweetest of souls, as she was. I’m not really a praying person, more of good thoughts sent, but I am praying for Noah, Alexandra, and her family and friends❤️
