July 8, 1947 – April 1, 2020
Waukesha native, Alfred Glancy Williams II “Al”, age 72, died in Richmond, Virginia, April 1, 2020 from complications of the Covid-19 virus. Al was born in Waukesha July 8, 1947, to Alfred G and Mary Ellen (Neufer) Williams and grew up on Randall Street surrounded by a multi-generational family and countless neighborhood friends. He attended Blair Elementary and was active in organized sports at nearby Horeb Spring Park. An enthusiastic golfer from an early age, Al played at Moor Downs and other local courses taking part in several area tournaments as he grew in age and skill. In his high school days, Al participated in a variety of sports and was a member of the Waukesha Blackshirts Track and Field team.
Al graduated from Waukesha High School in 1965 and enlisted in the United States Navy. After twenty-five years of faithful service to his country, C.P.O. Williams retired and settled in Richmond, Virginia, where he became an established businessman and active community volunteer. Throughout his life, Al was an avid reader, a loyal Green Bay Packers fan, a great golfer, a good listener and a grand storyteller. His good humor, wit and exemplary courage will be forever missed.
Al’s parents, Alfred and Mary Ellen Williams, preceded him in death. Al is survived by his wife Janet and daughter Meredith; son, Brent and daughter, Tara; five grandchildren; two brothers, Charles and Paul; and one sister, Sue Ellen.
No memorial is planned at this time. As per Al’s wishes, his ashes will be buried at sea.
