Alice W. Rishel

Alice Wyatt Rishel, 92, of Glen Allen, VA, passed away peacefully May 21, 2019.
Born August 7, 1926 in Glen Allen, she was preceded in death by husbands Robert Waldrop, Paul Atkins, and John Rishel as well as her sisters Alma Thomas, Hazel Tyson and Grace Tinsley. She is survived by her son Robert “Rocky” Waldrop Jr. and wife Kathy; grandsons Kyle Waldrop of San Francisco, CA, Kevin Waldrop and wife Corinne of Glen Allen, VA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice worked at Home Beneficial Life Insurance for 30 plus years until her retirement in 1987. She was a lifelong member of Hunton Baptist Church, where she proudly served as a Deacon. She cherished the ministry and tight knit community the church brought to her life. Alice relished being the center of attention and quickly lit up any room with her sharp wit and unfiltered jokes. In all of her 92 years, there was scarcely a stranger in whom Alice couldn’t find a friend—with a sense of humor and vibrant personality that could hardly be contained in her small frame, she was truly one of a kind and will be missed by many. The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care Alice received by the staff at Imperial Plaza Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 11:00am at Hunton Baptist Church at 11660 Greenwood Rd, Glen Allen, VA 23059, with visitation to begin one hour prior to service. A reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hunton Baptist Church.
Kathy and Rocky, Alice was such a delightful person. She could definitely light up the room when she entered and always made me feel so good. Every time I saw her she had a story about Rocky and Bobby growing up together. I know Bobby thought the world of her. She will be missed by all.
