Angela Clements Hurley
May 30, 1973 – July 19, 2022
It is with broken hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Angela Nunnally Hurley of Mechanicsville, Va. She was tragically taken from us far too soon, at the age of 49, on Tuesday, July 19, 2022.
Daughter, sister, aunt, friend, but first and foremost mother. We take comfort in knowing she was welcomed home by angels, into the loving embrace of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Angela was preceded in death by her father, Jimmy Nunnally; paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. James Nunnally Sr.; maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Gene Schaufelberger; her brother, Harold Brewster and uncles Keith Schaufelberger and Sheryl Schaufelberger.
She is survived by her son, Slayden Hurley of Atlanta, GA, who she loved with all her heart; her beloved pups, Chico and Sadie; mother, Suzette Flanagan; sisters, Lisa Dise (Monty), Latane Flanagan, Alexis Aaron Wells (Tony); nephews, Taylor, Dylan, Skyy, and Declan; nieces, Samantha and Heidi; aunt, Sandra Jones (Troy); and many cousins.
As beautiful as she was passionate, Angela touched the lives of many throughout her life. Her son, Slayden, was her biggest pride and joy. She cherished time with friends and family enjoying activities on the water; boating, fishing and many beach days. She enthusiastically loved her many plants and flowers, enjoyed painting, as well as attending church and volunteering for church events. She loved keeping in touch with folks on social media and posting pics of her glammed up canine babies. We will smile when we remember that she loved to say “LOL.” She was queen of the acronym LOL and used it extensively, sprinkling it into her texts and posts. In recent years, Angela participated in counseling programs at Raft House of Hanover County. Her “family” there was very special to her, she considered Raft her sanctuary and they considered her a great asset to their clubhouse. She looked forward to her peer support groups and had set a goal of becoming a mutual peer support counselor. In 2020, she was determined to improve her overall well-being. Embarking on a weight loss and exercise journey, Angela exceeded her objectives. She was thrilled to wear “skinny” clothes again, especially her new swimsuits. If there’s a resort in heaven, Angela is poolside making new friends and rockin’ her pink bikini! We are beyond proud of her accomplishments. She kept trying even when life was challenging.
Angela, we will love you always and while our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we will do our best to honor your memory.
The family will welcome friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 24 at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, July 25 at the funeral home chapel.
Angela adored flowers or if you so choose, please consider a donation in her honor to Hanover County Raft House, 14433 Washington Hwy, Ashland, VA 23005.

To hear this news takes my breathe away. I am so very sorry for the pain that you all are facing. I met Angela in FL when I was 17 and she was 20. The girls, there were 8 of us; Angela, Lori, Kerry, Terri, Kathy, Melissa, Heather, and me the chick from NH. We had so many fun times together, and the laughs were beyond anything. Thank you Angela for some of the best memories I have in life… You are shining bright even now. We love you girl.
What an amazing person! Your attitude and smile are contagious which is something I always enjoyed about your presence. You will be missed by so many.
Sorry to hear of the loss of Angela. Prayers for family and friends. May she rest in paradise…
Thank you for choosing to livestream Angela’s service. Angela and I have known each other for 30 years. We were even roommates once. I’ll never forget her laugh or her drawl that she never lost, even though she lived in Florida for so many years! I remember Slayden as the cutest little baby, and how she’d tell their dog, “no noise!” She loved chatting on AOL back then! She always loved color, and all of her homes had so much of it! My favorite memory of Angela that comes to mind is when she spilled her hot wax on the bathroom floor but had promised to wax my eyebrows. So, we both lied on the floor and she put that wax on my brows from the bathroom floor! We both couldn’t stop laughing at the ridiculous thing we were doing. I’ll always remember her laugh and her “Oh my gossssshhhhh”. I know she is laughing in heaven. Sending love to all of you.
A childhood friend of mine that will forever stay in my memories. Thought and prayers for all of her family.
