Annette Morris Mercer-Bradshaw

June 24, 1955 – July 26, 2022

Annette (Morris) Mercer-Bradshaw, 67, of Chesterfield, VA, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, at home with her family, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Annette was born on June 24, 1955, in Trenton, New Jersey, the fourth child of L.C. and Annie Mae Morris. After graduating from Steinert High School in 1973, Annette found a career in telecommunications that spanned more than 40 years. Starting as a night-time telephone operator, in 1977, at Bell Telephone, she ended her career as a Systems Engineer, in 2019. This career took Annette from Trenton to Aurora, Colorado in 1986 then to Virginia in 1989.

Annette was preceded in death by her daughter, Annie Mercer (1979); a brother, Clarence Morris (1996); her father, L.C. Morris (1998); and her sister-in-law, Nancy Morris (2004). Annette was loved by everyone she had the opportunity to meet.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted husband of 24 years, Michael J. Bradshaw; and their beloved dog, Max; two loving daughters, Nishana Keri and Tyuana Richelle Mercer; three grandchildren Kevin Anthony Ward Mercer, Stanley Everette Brown, III, and Nova Ayana Tené Taylor; her step-children, Tyrone Casper, Jeffery Bradshaw, Sr. (Mary), Angel Bradshaw, Sharonda Eppes, Crystal Washington (Pierre), Carlisa Eppes, and Carlos Eppes;  her mother, Annie Mae Morris; her siblings, Lenzy Morris, Laverne Owens (Robert, Sr.), and Dawn Ortiz (Sebastian); her life-long friend, Loretta Ross (Tony); and three devoted friends, Penny Logan, Lonette Marsh, and Monique Robinson. Annette also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly, along with other family members and friends.

If you knew Annette, you know she enjoyed cooking/baking, watching old movies, playing video games with her husband, gambling, and spending time with her loved ones. Annette would tell you exactly how she felt, in that sarcastic tone of hers, then turn around right around and laugh with you. She was a very giving person; she loved volunteering and helping those less fortunate. Her greatest attribute was her generosity. In 2015, she joined Elizabeth Harris #86, Order of The Eastern Stars of VA, PHA. For the last 5 years, she happily served as Treasurer, thus earning her the title of an Honorary Past Worthy Matron.

At Annette’s request, there will not be a funeral service. The family will notify loved ones when a memorial is scheduled.
