Obituary message
Aubrey W. Nunnally, Jr., 92, of Richmond, passed away on April 20, 2017. The son of Aubrey W. and Annie Marie Nunnally, he is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Frances; sons Vann, David and his wife Judy; daughter Heidi; grandchildren Sally, Katie, Alex and Brandon; and great-granddaughter Arya. Aubrey served honorably in the United States Navy as an aviation ordnanceman during WWII before meeting Frances at a Saturday night dance, marrying and starting a family. Aubrey did not sit idly by but captured life’s simple joys. He was an avid gardener who turned his back yard into a wonder garden where rows of strawberries grew under his tender care. His real life’s passion was golf. At age 12, he began caddying at the Country Club of Virginia. After retiring from a 30-year career at Philip Morris, he continued to walk the golf course for many, many years. Although Aubrey was a man of few words, he had much wisdom and said the right things at the right time. The family wishes to thank Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center for their care and attention and Bon Secours Hospice for their comfort and support. His family will miss him dearly. Visitation will be held 5:30-6:30 pm on Thursday, April 27, 2017, with service to follow at 6:30 pm at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond. Private family interment will take place on Friday, April 28, 2017.
