Benita Yvette Bolling

January 11, 1968 – February 13, 2024

Benita Yvette Bolling, 56, of Henrico County passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024.

Born January 11, 1968, to Mary Cox Bolling and Kelso Bolling in Richmond Virginia, Benita Bolling, departed this life on February 13, 2024.

Affectionately known as Nita, she was always full of laughter and smiles. She was a stranger to no one, always sparking conversation with anyone she came in contact with and always stood up for what she believed in.

At an early age, she joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Goochland Va. She had a passion for sports and received scholarships for Track and Cross Country. Benita attended North Carolina Central University and received her degree from Virginia State University in 1991.

Her daughter Maya was the light of her life. She would travel and visit often, going on adventures to try new restaurants, as she LOVED to eat, attending games with her, and more. Maya was the apple of her eye! Benita also had a close relationship with her great nieces and nephews, always encouraging them to do well in school and supporting them in all their endeavors. She was one of their biggest cheerleaders.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Flora and Fred Cox and Janet and Peter Bolling.

She leaves to cherish in her memory, her daughter Maya Saunders, her parents, devoted sister, Jada Robinson (Terrell), brother, Antonio Bolling, nieces, Kendra and Keesha Robinson, nephews, Brayden and AJ Bolling, beloved great nieces, Arihanna Finney and Kenya Robinson-Hutchinson, beloved great nephews, Leroy Smith, Ivan Finney, and Taj Bland, and devoted friend, Bernard Saunders.

She was truly a light who will be deeply missed!

The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. Interment will be private.

To Jayda and Antonio, I am so sorry for the loss of Benita. Even though I hadn’t seen Benita in more than 20 years, the hurt was still surreal. We all grew up on the same road in the same neighborhood. You never forget good people. Prayers are being said for you and the family.

Maya, Mary, Jada and Antonio, you have my heartfelt and deepest condolences in the transition of your mother, daughter and sister, Benita.
I remember her great smile as a teacher just seeing her in the halls of GHS or going from building to another. She was always polite and spoke each time I would see her. May the comfort of God’s hands and power hold you at this time and in the days to come. I will keep all of you in my prayers. God bless you and keep you is one of my prayers for you.
