Betty Gibson Crenshaw

November 3, 1939 – February 27, 2022

Betty (BJ) Gibson Crenshaw went to meet her Lord on February 27, 2022 in her home in Coles Point, VA. She was 82 years old. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Cornelia Gibson; and a brother, James Gibson Jr. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Paris Crenshaw, Jr; a daughter, “Willie” Andrews and her husband, Stanley and grandsons, Joey (wife Dakkari) and Bryan (wife Samantha); a son, Paris Crenshaw III and his wife, Helen and granddaughters, Tatiana and Natasha.

She graduated Lane High School in Charlottesville, VA and Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, VA where she received a Gerontology Degree. She worked at both Westminster Canterbury of Lynchburg and Charlottesville, VA. She was an advocate for elderly housing and was the first woman in VA to receive a Professional Retirement Housing Specialist Certification.  She loved her family deeply, was a loyal friend and always remained strong in her faith. She was a member of the Chester Presbyterian Church.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11AM at Chester Presbyterian Church, 3424 W Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23831.  Contributions may be sent to Chester Presbyterian Church. Friends are welcome to visit with the family in the church fellowship hall after the service for light refreshments.

    Mr. Crenshaw, so sorry to read about your wife’s passing. I hope you two had many enjoyable years in retirement. I often think about many of the Leggett employees. I’ll never forget that day in 1986 when you came over to tell us about the Challenger accident. Please take care of yourself.

    Paris, I just learned of Betty
    ‘Death. I am so sorry. She was a gracious lady with compassion for all. I tried to call but my number was out of date. Blessings
