Beverly Ann Becker

September 16, 1953 – July 2, 2024

Beverly Ann (Richards) Becker, age 70, of Richmond passed away on July 2 in the peace and comfort of her own home. Survivors include her brother, Doug Richards, and his wife, Melanie; her son Doug Becker, and his wife Andrea, and their children Douglas and Christina; and her son Matt Becker, and her beloved dog Roger. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eileen Richards, of Irwin, PA; and husband, Robert Joseph Becker.

Bev was a proud native of Western Pennsylvania, hailing from Irwin. After graduating from Pitt, she built a career in the offices of U.S. Steel, blazing a trail for working women. She moved with her husband, Bob, to Virginia, where they put down new roots and raised both of their sons. She spent the second half of her life in Richmond, cultivating close friendships in her community. She was a lifelong learner and craftswoman, with a passion for traveling, quilting, and gardening. She was diagnosed with brain cancer in Fall 2021, with a life expectancy of 12-18 months. She beat that prognosis by another year, modeling grace, courage, and kindness all the while. In that time, she enjoyed many more laughs, the company of good friends and family, and got to meet her granddaughter. She set an example for us all.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, July 6, at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294, with visitation one hour preceding. Interment will be private, at a later date, in the columbarium at St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
