Bok Sun Chang
October 13, 1939 – March 15, 2021
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bok Sun Chang, 81, lost her life on March 15, 2021 from complications of COVID-19.
Bok Sun was born in South Korea in 1939 and immigrated to the United States in 1977 to provide a better life for her family. Through their hard work and grit, she and her husband created successful small businesses in communities within Richmond, VA. She lived a full and active life—never sitting still—enjoying time with her family, growing vegetables and tending her garden, traveling the world, and interacting with customers at her son’s small business.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Chong Hyun; her daughters, Jisun (Sam) and Young (John); her son, Michael (Euna); her grandchildren, Christine, Steven, Michael, and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Bradley; and her siblings, nephews, and nieces in South Korea. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, April, her brother and parents.
A private family service will take place on March 19, 2021 at the Affinity Funeral Services with burial to follow at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave, Richmond, VA.
Dear Young, we are saddened by the passing of your Mom and send you our deepest condolences at this difficult time. We hope that her memories will sustain you and help you in your grieving process. Our thought and prayers are with you and your family. Let her Rest In Peace.
