Carey Cathleen McAferty of Chesterfield was born on December 28, 1965 and passed from this world on January 21, 2020 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, VA. She is survived by her sons Matthew Griffin and Michael Nuckles, her grandson Parker Griffin, her sister Erin Zatelli, her sister-in-law Julie Owen, her nephews Vincent Zatelli, Dominic Zatelli, and Nathan Owen, and her parents Kenneth and Barbara Nichols. A celebration of life honoring Carey will be held on Saturday February 1st from 1-3pm at Palermo Pizzeria 15717 City View Drive Midlothian, VA.
What an amazing person, I will cherish her memory forever. She will surely be missed!
I certainly hope she knew the amount of sunshine she brought to my life.

Carey was an amazing person. She’s definitely going to be missed by so many people. She has taught me so many things since I’ve known her. I’ll never forget the memories I’ve had with her. She’ll forever be in my heart.
I am an employee at the same place as Carey….let me tell you a BEAUTIFUL soul and a very humorous person who was on top of her job THE BEST at it….her death was such a SHOCK to us all….my heart felt condolences goes out to her family….may GOD hold them near and dear

Carey was one of the first people to strike up a conversation with me when I first started working at Walmart. I didn’t know Carey well but she was always full of energy, very funny and always sweet to be around. I’m so glad that I had pleasure of meeting Carey. She will truly be missed.

I am just finding out about Carey’s passing. I am truly sorry for your loss. Carey was a beautiful person who cared deeply for others. She possessed an amazing sense of humor and sense of responsibility for her family and at work. An angel on earth who blessed the lives of those who knew her. I am so grateful to be one of them.
