Carl S. Mitchell, 89, of Doswell, VA passed away July 24, 2023. He is now at peace with his wife Mary Ann of 64 years, as well as other family members and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many.

Carl was an avid camper who loved to be near the water whether it be boating or fishing. He also loved music and going to dances with his wife. You could always find him playing cards with others. The house doors were always open because he loved to entertain and help anyone in need. He loved football, especially his Dallas Cowboys. Carl was a father to many and a friend to everyone.

I loved my Uncle Carl very much! Even though we lived miles apart he was always in my heart. I’m glad my Aunt Mary Anne is dancing in the heavens with him now! Rest in Peace to one of the sweetest !!!!
I will miss seeing his smile on Thursday nights at the Caroline Moose Lodge for card night. He surely will be missed by many!
He will be missed !! Always had a smile on his face and kind honest words on his lips. I remember chatting with him last year on my birthday because he called me every year to tell me Happy Birthday. I said how do you remember my birthday never a day late, sometimes i forget my own birthday. He said I have cheat sheet with a grin in his voice. Prayers to all the family. Fly High Carl we love you.
Pop is a member of our poker family. His contagious smile, and constant 1000 bets will be missed. We all hope Beverly and Michael will still occasionally stop by and play a game for Carl. That man’s friendly attitude grew on you quickly. Don’t bluff too much when you’re playing at the big table Pop! Enjoy your reunion my friend, you earned it!
Carl , known to me as “Mitch” was my kind brother-in-law who would help and do anything for you that was needed. When my Sister, Mary Ann, brought him into our family, we became close and very good friends. I was still in high school deciding what my next move would be in life. His advise and support led me to join the Navy for 4 years. My wife, Pat, and I enjoyed visiting them both over the years from NC. Especially loved the freshly boiled crab legs with them at their river home. May you and my sister now enjoy eternity life in Heaven. Our love to you both from Bob and Pat .
