Carol Denise Byrd
October 20, 1945 – April 29, 2022
Carol Denise Byrd, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in the presence of her loved ones on Friday, April 29, 2022.
Carol loved her family, and enjoyed spending time with them and with her friends in her small rural community. She was an avid reader and collector of books and all things Western. A lover of nature and animals from childhood, she put her passions to use at the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation until her retirement, at which time, she was able to slow down and really enjoy nature to the fullest. She took great pleasure in gardening, shopping estate sales and auctions, neighborhood potluck parties, and living the simple life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ann and Raymond Lewis, and her loving husband, Lewis Garland Byrd.
She is survived by her son, Sean and his wife Lisa; her beloved granddaughter, Cheyenne; and her siblings, Joan Bunning and Richard Lewis and their families.
A private Celebration of Life will be held for family at a future date.
Memorials may be made in her honor at Alley Cat Rescue (www.saveacat.org/donate) or P.O Box 585, Mount Rainier, MD 20712.
We will remember you fondly and you will be missed. Rest in peace, Mrs. Byrd.❤

Rest In Peace, Carol. I’m going to miss our “kitty” talks and keeping up with “American Idol.” I’m so glad I knew you, even if our time together was short.
Was sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. Her husband Lewis was my cousin. We reconnected later in our lives when he came to a family reunion here in Salem Va near his home place! I never got to meet Carol but we corresponded through Lewis and after his passing we still stayed in touch thru cards! He always spoke so highly of her. My condolences to Sean and the family. Would love to keep in touch with the family! With sum path you and prayers.

I worked with Carol at the Bureau of Reclamation in Denver. She was a good friend; I gave her a baby shower when she was expecting Sean who was so wanted. She was a very good person who who had more than her share of bad luck..I love you, Carol. Thank you, Joan, for getting in touch with me.
Carol was a great person and a wonderful friend. I worked with her when I lived in Casper, Wyoming. Her son Sean told me she had been in a bad car accident and wanted prayers for her. Thank You Joan for taking the time to write me about your sister. I have been gone all week seeing my 2 sons and got this in the mail today . She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. You have my deepest sympathy.
