Catherine Irene Miescier

June 6, 1939 – November 29, 2019

Miescier, Catherine Irene (Grogan), resident of Midlothian, Virginia, formerly of Pittsboro, North Carolina and Vienna, Virginia, passed away on November 29, 2019 at the age of 80 years.

Born on June 6, 1939 in Birmingham, Alabama, Catherine grew up in Northport, New York. She graduated from the Catholic University of America in 1962. Catherine started her nursing career in Holy Cross, Alaska and met John, a pharmacist in the United States Public Health Service, in 1962 in Bethel, Alaska.Together they raised four children. Catherine worked as a childbirth educator and registered nurse. She enjoyed reading, sewing and embroidery, playing tennis and softball, and gardening. She also devoted her time as a hospice volunteer in her retirement years.

Catherine will be sadly missed by her loving husband, John; and their children, Lynn Miescier and Jeffery Raid of Columbia, Maryland; Michael and Carolina Miescier of Salt Lake City, Utah; Melanie Miescier Rodgers and Scott Rodgers of Durham, North Carolina; and Suzanne Miescier Nigriny and Matthew Nigriny of Chesterfield, Virginia; grandchildren Matthew and Holly Reynolds Keimig, Allen Keimig, James Nigriny, Daniel Nigriny, and Nicolas Miescier. She is survived by her siblings, Matthew Grogan and Mary Grogan McBride of Denver, Colorado; four nieces, Susie, Laura, Julia, and Kathleen, and two nephews, Lewis and Jeffrey. She is predeceased by her parents, Russell Grogan and Suzanne Holmes Grogan.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at 3 pm at the Club at Harper’s Mill, 8600 Pullman Lane,Chesterfield, Virginia 23832.
