In Loving
Memory

Constance B. Wax

March 18, 1927 – December 17, 2023

Constance Bennett Wax, 96, of Vienna, VA passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at Discovery Village at the Westend Memory Care Community.

Connie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Andrew Paul Wax. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Hummer and Andrea Neiman ( Jeff); her grandchildren, Angela Neiman, Jennifer N. Poma ( J.C.), and Eric Neiman; her great-grandchildren, Rhett and Beau Poma.

Connie was a graduate of Anacostia High School in Washington, DC where her favorite activity was being on the drill team as a Job’s Daughter, a group associated with the Freemasons, for young women to work together to help others. She began her long career in government service as a secretary at the Department of Defense. After raising two daughters, she began working for Fairfax County, first as a volunteer in voter registration then as an employee for the Electoral Board.

Volunteerism was paramount in her life. She helped with all the committees at her church, Wesley United Methodist in Vienna. Connie held many offices
at both the Vienna and McLean Women’s Club. She was a Girl Scout leader to both her daughters and active in all levels of PTA. As part of The Hospitality
and Information Service (THIS Committee) she welcomed newly appointed foreign diplomats and their families to Washington, DC, by teaching English and
sharing U.S. traditions and recipes.

First and foremost in Connie’s life was her love of family, from her Quaker roots in Lancaster, PA, with her four siblings to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She would always be found at their birthday parties, vacations, weddings, and holidays whenever possible. Family meant everything to her.

A memorial service/celebration of her life will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Chapel at Discovery Village at the Westend Assisted Living community, 2422 University Park Boulevard, Henrico, VA 23233. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
