Obituary message

KALLIO, David J., 73, born June 24, 1943 in Detroit, Mich. He went peacefully to be with God at Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center on June 15, 2016. Survived by three children, Laurel Jacobson of Burnsville, Minn., Brian Kallio of Hanford, Calif. and Katherine Krasne of Rochester, Minn.; and their spouses; five grandchildren; sister, Sharyn Gemelos of Midlothian, Va.; and best friend of 16 years, Erica Oliver of Richmond, Va. David received a Masters of Divinity from Northwestern Lutheran Theological Seminary. He was a pastor for 20 years and served his country honorably as an active duty and reserve Army Chaplain, attaining the rank of Lt. Col. David loved his family and his pastoral and chaplaincy duties. He was kind, warm, humorous and talkative, and loved helping friends and family. He will be missed by all who knew him. David will be interred at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn. Memorial services are planned for Richmond, Escanaba, Mich. and Minneapolis, Minn.
