In Loving

Devin Lamar Perry

July 1, 1979 – May 29, 2024

Devin Lamar Perry, 44, peacefully entered his eternal residency on May 29, 2024, after his strong fight against cancer. He will join his mother, Deborah “Diane” W. Perry, his big brother Victor “Vic” Perry, and his baby brother, Edward “Lil Ed” Perry, Jr. He was born on July 1, 1979, in Richmond, Virginia.

Born and raised in the Northside of Richmond, he participated in little league sports, representing Battery Park Vikings in competitive basketball, baseball, swimming, and football. He was also a Boy Scout with his brothers. Devin attended AV Norrell Elementary School, Henderson Middle School, and John Marshall High School. Devin left his mark in the AAU league, where his precious and swift free throws led his team to victory.

Devin was a gentle giant. He was a man with a strong demeanor, with a courageous spirit, and with a loving heart. He was one who gave and provided for those he loved with no expectation of anything in return. To know Devin was to know he had the most beautiful handwriting. You would also know to expect a text or phone call back from him within three business days. He was a busy man but made time when he could. When you saw Devin, he was always well-dressed. He was a shoe fanatic, and always made sure he was color-coordinated. He loved to spend time outdoors, traveling, creating memories with his family and friends, and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.

Remaining to cherish his memory are his father Edward M. Perry, Sr. (Pier); three children Aaron Alston, Dejanae Perry, Devine Perry; four grandchildren Elijah Taylor, Ethan Taylor, Aiden Taylor, Iry’elle Alston; nephews Edwin Allen, Victor “Lil Vic” Perry, Jr., Ro’Melo Perry; nieces Ti’Eja Woodson, Jakayla Ragland, Niyana Ragland, and Jaeda Perry; aunts Betty Perry-Glass and Jacqueline Brown; uncle Arthur Walker (Renee); sister-in-law Tasha Ragland; special friends Melvin Jones and Joe Turner; devoted friend Carleshia Washington, and a host of loving cousins and loyal friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at New Deliverance Evangelistic Church, 1701 Turner Road, N. Chesterfield, 23225 on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
