Donald Eugene Wray
April 20, 1945 – September 5, 2023
Donald Eugene Wray of Henrico County, VA passed away on September 5, 2023, in his home with his beloved dogs, Emily, Brandon, and Twinkie, by his side.
He is survived by his son, John Charlson of Atlanta, GA; his daughter, Laurie Wray of Glen Allen, VA; and grandchildren, Chase and Holly Calhoun.
Donald retired from Henrico County Public Works and has spent the last 30 years as a Fitness Trainer at American Family Fitness.
Donald had a passion for running. He completed marathons, in addition to 50 and 100-mile races. He also participated in competitive bodybuilding. While physical fitness was a passion, his first love was family, and of course his dogs – whom he loved more than anything.
An intimate gathering will be held at a later date to honor and celebrate Donald’s wonderful and full life.

My life changed the day I met you while running in my my first Richmond Marathon. I had just moved here from London and Donnie you became my first true friend.
We ended up running and racing thousands of miles together for over 20 years.
I always looked forward to our long Sunday rides !
Your story telling got us through some tough 20 plus miles training runs over the year.
RIP old friend. 💔
My heart will feel empty as I enter the gym. You were the welcome committee and the inspiration to all. You made each of us believe in ourselves. Rest in peace my friend.
