Donna Sue (Hamblett) Lee

September 6, 1959 – January 25, 2024

Donna Sue (Hamblett) Lee, a cherished wife, mother, entrepreneur, and friend, passed away on January 25, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on September 6, 1959, in Roanoke, VA, to the late Woodrow and Sue Hamblett, Donna’s journey through life was a testament to her passion, generosity, and unwavering commitment to her family and the community.

In 1996, Donna showcased her entrepreneurial spirit and business acumen by founding Playful Delights, Inc. (Adult Wholesale Distributors), a company that not only succeeded but also thrived under her dedicated leadership. Her participation in trade events, especially in Las Vegas, and her role as a director for HPPPA, highlighted her significant contributions to the industry.

Donna’s heart was always with her family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Barry Lee, her loving daughters, Cyndi Hagan (Ryan) and Michelle Lee, and her sister Paula Robinson. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Tommy and Jimmy Hamblett, and sister Mary Walker.

Known for her selfless and nurturing nature, Donna had a zest for life that was contagious. She relished crafting, embarking on cruises to explore new places, and never missed the chance to experience a festival, whether it was for arts, food, or just celebrating life. A notable aficionado of Hanover tomatoes, Donna’s appreciation for life’s simple pleasures was endearing to all who knew her.

To honor and celebrate Donna’s remarkable life, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, from 2 pm to 4 pm at Affinity Funeral Service in Mechanicsville (8074 Mechanicsville Tpke, Mechanicsville, VA 23111). The family encourages donations to St. Jude’s in honor of Donna, a gesture that reflects her lifelong spirit of generosity and caring.

Donna’s love, joy, and kindness will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of compassion and warmth will continue to inspire and touch lives, just as she did.

You lived a remarkable life, Donna. We shared the same loving dad and inherited his keen sense of humor. You will be missed, my sister, and your memory will forever be present. In God’s time, we will all be together again. You are at peace🙏

Thank you for all of the wonderful moments and memories in the 1980s. You were one of my best friends and we only recently reconnected on Facebook. I was part of your wedding party when you married Barry and we worked together in Roanoke for about 5 years. You will always be in my heart and thoughts. Barry, your daughters, and family will be in my thoughts and prayers. You were a beautiful force of nature, much loved by anyone who knew you, and always ready to make people laugh or smile. You will be missed more than you’ll ever know. Rest in peace, dear sweet girl.

You were my colleague, friend and sister. You were a major part of the growth of our association and you caring about business helped our members grow. We built a strong friendship and I looked at you as my Sister. You did not take crap from no one and let them know right away. Our birthdays 🎂 were only days apart and we celebrated when we were together. I will always hold a special place in my heart for you and Barry. Rest Easy my Friend. Mike and Kim are waiting at the gates for you! I will Love You forever.

Donna was my brother’s wife and I considered her my sister too. She was a very strong woman with a heart of gold 💛 She told you like it was, but if you needed her, she was right there to talk you through it and lended her shoulder to cry on. She will be greatly missed and loved by so many. We lost a great friend, sister, wife and mother, but Heaven has gained an angel 👼 I love and miss you Donna 😞❤️

Barry we are so saddened by your loss, but blesed that Donna will finally get the peace and healed life she deserves. You have always been a great friend and there was never a time when we ever had lunch or work together that you didn’t talk about your adventures together in business with Playful Delights, getting to know Donna during her auction days and understanding the amazing marriage that you had together. Anyone that got to know her or you knew the great team you were together with love and respect. You were designed to be together and we are proud and blessed to know her and see the love you had for each other and the family always!
