Doug to me was a good man, no a great man in the way that he took care of his family and the way that he treated people , I am proud to have met him and his family . Doug and Mary both accepted my son Derek into there home just like he was one of there kids .Doug is one of the best fathers and man I knew . ( AIRBORNE ) ALL THE WAY . TONY WILLIS (STEVEN HOLLOW SEXTON DRIVE)
“Uncle Doug” as he was lovingly called throughout my high school years was a great man to have known. Mary, Vernon, Mario and Marquita I am truly sorry to hear of his passing. Keeping the family in prayer.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. I worked with Doug at DuPont for many years and found him to be a wonderful and caring person. His life was all about family and how he could make life better for his family. Whenever Doug found out something new and remarkable, he was always willing to share. Godspeed Doug. You will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

I am sincerely sorry for the lost of your loved one. I have recently lost a loved one and I understand the hurt it brings. What comforted me is a bible verse at 1 Corinthians 1:3,4, the God of all comforts cares for you. A verse at Isaiah 25:8, he promises to end death forever. The one that brings me the most comfort is John 5:28,29. A promise that you can see your loved ones again thru the resurrection hope.
Mary Ann, we have not communicated in many years, but I kept up with you and Doug through our mutual friend Cynthia. Please know that the love you two shared manifested itself in my life as a source of inspiration and comfort throughout the years whenever I would hear and think about you both. I thank you and Doug for sharing your love with me and I thank God for bringing you both into my life.My sincerest condolences to you and your family.
Mary Ann and family, please accept my prayers of solace and comfort for you and all of the Powell family. I feel honored to have met Mary Ann and Doug in Richmond Va almost 40 years ago. You were always my favorite couple and I admired the love and care you had for each other and your family. I’m so thankful and grateful for your friendship and have wonderful memories of the times we spent together. You welcomed me into your home and hearts. I’ll never forget that. Thank you Doug and may you look over us as an angel. God bless your hearts in the name of Jesus!
