A true friend and colleague to many !! We all are better for working and knowing her!
Thanks Sherry for ALL you did for so many. Rest now for your life will continue with all you HELPED!
One of the gang from Hilton St. Sherry and I set up a school in her grandmother’s basement as kids. Not sure the younger kids enjoyed it, but Sheery and I sure did. ⁰Such a good time. One wonderful lady.
SO very sad to hear about Sherry. I will never forget her. She held my hand while my husband had brain tumor surgery (2008). She answered all our questions about brain tumors and guided us to seek treatment at Duke, which I believe has contributed to my husbands lonegevity after his brain tumor. She couldn’t have been more comforting and so very knowledgeable. I will look for her star in the heavens. Sincere condolences.
Truly sorry for this loss. Sherry was such a giving lady…and a great conversationalist and hostess. She stood by the side of, held my sister in law’s hand, and provided care for her as she battled brain cancer. Sherry will be missed.
She was a disciple of Christ and got his message. I’ve never known anyone with a bigger nonjudgmental heart. There is less light in the world with her passing.
Intelligent woman with a heart of gold!
I am forever grateful and blessed to have shared a journey from MCV’s ICUs in the 1980’s to Bon Secour where our Palliative Care and Hospice program interfaced with Sherry’s dedication and drive to bring the best of care to the Cullather Brain Cancer Center and those it served. Sherry was a driving force who wanted nurses to stand up for themselves and to grow to the best of their scope of practice…and all the while wrapped in compassion and integrity. I will miss you calling me and our many talks these past years. I know you shine down on those you love…keep Dancing with Daddy sweet girl.
Love you, Sherry.
I am so sorry to hear about Sherry. She was someone I knew who loved her family very deeply and also all of her patients. I worked with her at CancerLINC, and I watched her help many patients at the Cullather Brain Tumor and Quality of Life Center. She will be truly missed.
Sherry’s passing shocks and saddens me. I have memories of her and Susan playing in each other’s yards as kids. I also remember going to the carnival in Pearisburg with them when they were in the 7th grade. My condolences to everyone in the family.
I know Sherry is already dancing in heaven! Her life here on earth was a true example of loving, serving and caring for others. She stayed true to the family and community values she was raised with and carried those with her all her life. She loved her family and friends bringing them together to celebrate and have fun as often as she could. She loved Howard, her boys and her grandchildren fiercely and with all her heart. She loved an adventure and was a joy to spend time with antiquing, talking and sharing a meal. I am thankful she was part of my life and a very dear friend. I can’t wait to be with her in heaven. All my love Wendy
Sherry was a wonderful friend and great comfort to me, throughout my Wife Nancy’s long illness and subsequent passing.
Our family sends our deepest condolences.

I had such a tremendous admiration for Sherry … as a person she was to kind and generous, as a nurse she was passionate and practiced with excellence. I came to know her when I went to work in the NSICU. She loved to share her knowledge in the most understandable ways. My condolences and prayers for the family and friends. I know she will be greatly missed.
