Memory

Elethia P. Miller
January 8, 1946 – January 13, 2023
Elethia was born on January 8, 1946 and was the eldest of seven children born to the union of Charlie and Vertis Pope in Halifax, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband Kearney Miller, her parents, her son Rialto, and her brothers-in-law, Everett, Alvin, and Bernard Miller.
On Friday, January 13, 2023, our beloved Elethia (Mickie/Meekie) Miller peacefully transitioned from the earth to be with her Lord and her beloved husband Kearney Miller. Those who knew her, know that she is singing and rejoicing. Elethia was a woman of faith, and she lived her life of service by giving, teaching, and loving all of those around her. Elethia was an amazing cook, baker, and canner, and loved being able to share her goodies with anyone she met.
Elethia and Kearney made Richmond, Virginia their home where they raised their family during their 53-year union until his passing in 2016. Elethia retired from Children, Incorporated in 2017 where she worked for over 40 years as a Data Entry Clerk, and moved to Wilmington, NC to live with her daughter and her family. Elethia would talk to anyone she met, and it was not unheard of for her to get the name of a grocery store clerk so that she could bring back something that she baked after telling the clerk why she was purchasing that fruit, flour, or vegetable.
Elethia was a proud, dedicated member of Broad Rock Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia, where she served in the choir, and was part of the diaconate, as well as the kitchen ministry.
Left to cherish her beautiful spirit are her daughter, Kearnetta Green (Tommie); son Landre Miller (Netiece), and daughter-in-love Danita Miller. Her memories are also lovingly cherished by grandchildren, Rialto Spence, Tiffany Holt, Symoine Miller, Christopher Efird-Green (Lea), and Philip Green; great-grandchildren, Kaylen, Brooke, Za’Niyah, Bryce, Rialto, Savannah, Andrew, Sydney, and Tristan; great-great grandchild, Santana; sisters, Janice Hedgepeth, Jean Pope, Frances Bolding, Linda Bolding, and Larue Pope; brother, Charlie Pope (Wilda); sisters-in-law, Barbara White (Clarence), Ernestine Pryor, Patsy Freeman (Wallace, Sr), Florence Miller, Shirley Miller, and Wilnet Miller;brothers-in-law, Larry Miller, Sr. (Connie), Jerry Miller, Sr.; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, special friends Cheryl Braxton, and Dale Brooks; honorary granddaughter, Malikia Hunter; and many, many loving friends.

Elethia was a beautiful woman inside and out. I had the privilege to work with her at Children Incorporated for ten years. She was always giving and doing for others. She was an amazing cook and I always looked forward to her yummy lunches she prepared for her people at work. I have many lovely memories of this wonderful woman. One story that stands out with her and Kearney, they asked for my help one weekend and I said absolutely I would help. I had my son Jovanni, while Elethia and I were working on the task, Kearney entertained My son. Monday, I came to work and Elethia asked me to walk outside. My son told Kearney he was working hard to get a scooter. They went out and bought him that scooter. So many precious & sweet memories. She was amazing and I was truly blessed to know her. I know she is rejoicing and God welcomed her with open arms.
