Evelyn Griffin Finnie
June 3, 1935 – April 26, 2021
Evelyn Griffin Finnie, 85, transitioned from life to eternal life on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.
She was born on June 3, 1935 to the late Willie and Ida Griffin in Amelia, Virginia. She was predeceased by her husband Lorenzo Finnie and 10 brothers and sisters.
Evelyn was baptized at an early age at Union Branch Baptist Church, Amelia, Va. She was a dedicated member of Faith and Love Fellowship Church where she served as an usher until her health started to decline.
Evelyn had many jobs during her lifetime to include doing hair, CNA, and being a foster grandparent at Miles Jones Elementary School. She truly had a passion for working with children. She enjoyed helping others and loved her family. Her favorite hobbies included going shopping and talking on the telephone. She will be missed for her words of wisdom, encouragement, personality and humor that only she possessed. Her humor and wit made it easy for others to feel comfortable around her. Her favorite bible verses were Psalms 23 and Proverbs 3:5-6.
Evelyn is survived by a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, May 6 at Affinity Funeral Service – Richmond Chapel, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Friday, May 7 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Maury Cemetery.
