Geraldine H. Dickens

 September 21, 1948 – June 12, 2024

With mixed emotions, we share the news that our beloved Geraldine H. Dickens of Henrico, Virginia peacefully transitioned on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Surrounded by family and friends, Pastor Gerri went to be with the Lord on her son, Marvin’s, birthday.

Pastor Gerri dedicated her career to serving the Commonwealth of Virginia, excelling as an administrator for multiple Christian academies and as a secretary for several local ministries. From an early age, she answered the call to follow Christ, becoming renowned as a prayer warrior, preacher, teacher, evangelist, church mother, and a devoted member of the hospitality ministry wherever she served. Pastor Gerri’s compassionate spirit knew no bounds, touching the lives of countless individuals with her willingness to lend a helping hand.

In her later years, Pastor Gerri found joy in church trips to the Outer Banks and cherished moments spent relaxing with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Dickens; her parents, James Sr. Holliday and Evelyn McDuffie Holliday; her children, Marvin Holliday and Michelle Cannon; her siblings, James Holliday Jr., Ronald Holliday Sr., Deborah Dixon-Goode, and Evelyn “Doll” Hyde; grandson, Keon Holliday; and sons-in-law, Joseph Haynes Jr. and Mitchell Coleman Sr.

Pastor Gerri is survived by her children, Katina Tyler (Kevin) and Anika Coleman; son-in-law, Derrick Cannon; daughter-in-law, Sheryl Holliday; her grandchildren, Israael, Leah, Keondra, Joshua, Peighton, Reagan, Morgan, Denon, Tony, Denise, Miracle, Praise, Ramon Jr., and her namesake Grace; a host of great-grandchildren; her siblings, Bobbie Jean Harrell (Robert), Nora Rowe, Gwendolyn Thorne (Vincent Sr.), Freddie Holliday Sr. (Janice), Regain Holliday, and Michael Holliday (Tracie); her close friends, Pastor’s Gary, and Gloria Garner; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, the Prevailing Word Ministry family, and many who knew her as “Ma”.

A memorial celebration honoring Pastor Gerri’s life will occur at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, at What’s To Come Ministries 4800 N. Bailey Bridge Rd., Midlothian, Virginia, with Apostle Chad and Pastor Daphne Lewis officiating. Further details will be announced at a later date.
