God in his infinite wisdom summoned our beloved one, Mrs. Gladys Irene Hewitt of Chesterfield, VA to make conversion from earthly life to eternal rest on Sunday, November 15, 2020.
Gladys was born January 15,1957 to the late Richard R. Taylor and Shirley P. Taylor of Meredithville, VA. She was a 1975 graduate of Brunswick Senior High School. She accepted Christ at an early age at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Lawrenceville, VA.
She is predeceased in death by husband, Jonathan Hewitt; father Richard R. Taylor; sister Joyce E. Wright; brother Richard V. Taylor; nephew Frankie L. Boisseau Jr.; and niece, Latasha A. Wright.
Gladys was a loving, caring, devoted and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; always, putting family first. She was continuously kind and compassionate and constantly willing to help.
She leaves to cherish her memory three devoted children, Shawn D. Taylor (Kristi), Ricky A. Taylor (Cindy) and Erica C. Lawal all of Chesterfield, VA; stepchildren, Shawn, Jonathan, Corey (Nyesha), and Fredrick (Natasha) Hewitt; mother, Shirley P. Taylor of Virginia, sister; Linda Peterson of Virginia, Vivian West- Bey (Fred) of North Carolina , Lesia Turner (Gilbert) of Virginia, brothers; Lioyd Taylor of Virginia, and Rodney Taylor of Tennessee, grandchildren; Ebony Wickham, Genee Taylor, Tayona Batson, Shakayla Washington, Yinka T. Lawal Jr. (TJ), Moses Lawal (Kola), Alan and Joseph Gibson, Toyin Lawal, and Kyng Cruickshank-Taylor, great grandchildren; Marilyn and Olivia Wickham, aunts ; Ola Green (Cleveland) of Virginia , Barbra and Yvonne Peace of Maryland, uncles; Preston Peace and Phillip Taylor both of Virginia, nieces and nephews; Lisa Wood (Maurice), William Peterson, Dominque Taylor (Teresa), Lakisha Taylor, Shari Taylor, Adrian Wright, Victoria Taylor, Darien Taylor, Julia Taylor, Lafreda West-Bey, and Aiden Taylor, devoted son-in-law Yinka T. Lawal Sr.; devoted friends ; Charles Brown, Cynthia Painter, and Jackie Payne; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The family would like to express a special thank you for all of your acts of kindness.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, November 24 at Affinity Funeral Service Richmond Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, Virginia.

Dear Family, we will greatly miss our Sister. We have so much to look back on and smile at the memories of good times we had with Gladys. I even think about when we were kids, she would take up for me, as my big sister. She will remain with you’ll, Erica, Shawn & Ricky, along with the grandchildren and all of our family members.
