Glenn Elliott Johnson

August 30, 1962 – April 29, 2024

Glenn Elliott Johnson affectionately known as “Jake” to some and “Doc” to many, was born to Floyd and Alice Johnson on Thursday, August 30, 1962, in Waverly, Virginia. He and his family relocated to Richmond in 1975, where he attended Richmond Public Schools.

He worked at Service Masters Cleaning Company and Crumps Nursing Home, Richmond Convention Center and he dedicated a large portion of his life caring for his mother who was ill. He cared for her until she passed.

Glenn was very special to us. He was calm and peaceful. You could talk to him; he loved spending time with family and friend. If you were a friend, you were a friend for life. He was slow to anger and strived for happiness.

He departed this life on Monday, April 29, 2024. Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Johnson; mother, Alice L. Johnson; sister, Elaine Crawford and his brother Sherman Johnson.

Glenn leaves his life partner of 38 years, Yvonne Brown to cherish his memories; children, Brandon Johnson, Breanna Brown and Deborah Brown; grandchildren, Danisha Brown,  Tevon Brown, Brandon Brown; brothers, Floyd (Lora) Johnson, Leon Johnson and James Russell Johnson; sisters, Deborah (Russell) Gordon, Angela (George) Cross, Angela “Mitten” Grays, Audrey Johnson; host of nieces, nephews, cousins whom he loved dearly.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8 at Affinity Funeral Service 2720 Enterprise Parkway Richmond, VA 23294.  A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
