Gloria, you are greatly loved and will be sorely missed
My heart bleeds for the entire family.
I came to work at CJW as a nurse close to the same time Gloria did.
She was the smiling face that always greeted us in employee health.
What a great nurse!
We will all miss you.
My life will not be the same without Gloria. She was my dear friend, my colleague, my mentor, my role model, and most of all my prayer warrior. She was always there for me. I loved going to lunch with her, or sharing a Hardee’s biscuit and coffee with her. I loved hearing her laugh, and getting one of her big hugs. My heart is breaking, and I am praying for you Vonda and the rest of the family. I know the heartbreak for you all is unbearable. Gloria’s memory will remain in my heart forever. May God bless you all and surround you with his love ♥️
Ms. Gloria was an incredible and wonderful woman. She lit up a room with her contagious smiles and laughter. We will miss her dearly.
She was such a lovely lady . I remember going to her house as a young girl and how welcoming she was. I also remember wonderful stories from my dad of all the fun they had growing up . She will truly be missed . Heaven definitely has one more angel.
Ed and Famiy,
We are so sorry to hear about Gloria. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Ed and Family,
Gloria was very special to all of us. Bunn and I enjoyed many wonderful times with Ed and Gloria. She was so much fun to be with and will be missed dearly. We send all of you our love and sympathy.
Gloria gave you unconditional love. If she was your friend, you counted your blessings. I will miss singing to her, and counting how many times a day she freshened her lipstick ( our inside joke). Memories of her will always make me smile and laugh!
During my tenure as pastor of the Patterson Avenue SDA church I became acquainted with each member of the Bareford family. They took me into their lives and their hearts. We have shared many precious moments together and I will forever treasure that relationship. Both Gloria and Ed attended my mother’s and my father’s funeral in Yale. Our children and their children have become good friends. This continued relationship will be when all of us will hear, “Come ye, blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom.”

Gloria was the first person I met when I joined CJW (then Chippenham Hospital) and I worked and admired her throughout my 38 years with HCA. She had a beautiful smile and wonderful and professional manner about her. It is not a surprise to me what a full and loving life she led.
My condolences to her family and close friends and I trust they will find comfort in their memories of her.

I met Gloria 19 years ago when I started volunteering at CJW. I never saw her and she wasn’t smiling. She was a excellent nurse and will truly be missed.

Gloria was my mentor in Employee Health. She taught me so much but especially kindness and consideration. She was loved by many and will be missed greatly. I hope for her family all your memories of this wonderful lady will give you comfort and peace.
I met Gloria over 32 years ago when I started working at CJW. She was a wonderful person and nurse. It’s hard to imagine CJW without seeing her smiling face walking around the hallways. She will surely be missed.
Such a warm and wonderful person, you will be missed.
We will miss Gloria “Guppy” and seeing her smiling face at church. She adopted our kids as a surrogate Grandma, always remembering their birthdays with pretty handwritten cards. She was always ready with a hug and a kind word. She gave our daughter an Angel as a gift that Anna has loved through the years. We will cherish the sweet memories, smiles and the love she shared with us until we meet again. Our sympathies to all her family and friends.
I came to know Gloria through Patterson Ave Church and came to know Jenny and her girls, Tara, Hailey, Page and my favorite, Sydney from teaching at Richmond Academy.

It was a “Glorious Day in Virginia”, as her mother always said, when Gloria was born! To be counted as her friend, was a bright spot in my life. I will miss her infectious smile and laughter. God needed another Angel in Heaven and called her home. My prayers today are for Ed, her girls and entire family. God Bless you all!
We can’t say enough good things about Gloria. We all appreciated her infectious smile, her honesty, and fun loving nature. I’ve know Gloria my whole life as a member of the Patterson Avenue SDA Church. Her brother Leslie Schutte and his wife Lottie were like my second parents and their children like siblings. Our families were inseparable. The Mayers and Schuttes have a close bond. Gloria will be sorely missed. She was a kind and compassionate person. Ed and family please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. May the Lord comfort and sustain you during this sad time. May you also find comfort in a long life well-lived. Trust and rest in the Blessed Hope!
Mrs. Bareford was a wonderful lady that made an impact on an incredible number of people. Her warmth and kindness was a positive influence on everyone she met and I am saddened to hear of her passing. This world has lost an angel and heaven has gained one. My deepest condolences to her family and I pray that her family will be comforted and find peace knowing she is in God`s care now. I will remember her fondly and look forward to seeing her when we gather again .
I met Mrs. Bareford in 1975 when I was a young high school student. She immediately put me at ease with the warmth of her personality and friendly smile. Her goodness and genuine concern for others made a lasting impression. That ride from New Market to Richmond in her nice big Cadillac was my first experience of “riding in style.” The car even had cruise control! It was on that trip that I learned her brother (Harold) had been our family physician. It’s such a small world.
Although she barely knew me, she put me at ease with her warmth and engaging style of conversation. She had a great sense of humor and a high energy level! The last time I saw her was January 2011, she still had the infectious smile and warm personality. I couldn’t believe that she was still working! What energy! My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Bareford, Eddie, Vonda, Jenny and the extended family.. May they be comforted by her memory and a life well lived.
God bless,
Jeff Lingerfelt
We grew to love Gloria and Ed through their friendship with Dot and Woody and enjoyed watching these wonderful friends ‘live life’ together and hearing of their adventures in travel. Gloria and Dot shared a special bond and we know ‘Ladybug’ was at the gates of heaven welcoming her Dear Friend home to glory.
We send our sincerest thoughts and prayers to Ed and the girls during this difficult time and will cherish the wonderful memories of Gloria.
Love to all,
Keith & Lynn Bass
In the Five short years I have worked with Guppy she taught me so much. She was like a mother I have never had. I received my scoldings and advise that we’re delivered with love. Always complete with a hug. We did daily devotions and shared prayers and truly a blessing she was for me. I will love her always. Prayers of strength and comfort for her family.
