Obituary message
Hazel Colean Woods Johnson, 95, of Henrico, VA went to her heavenly home on June 27, 2017. As one of eleven children, she lived a life of hard work, sacrifice, and faith. She was a humble, kind servant of God and lived her life in service to others. Her greatest joys were her family and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Jon Teates; two grandchildren, Jennifer Hill (Bobby) and Jonathan Teates (Michelle); and six great-grandchildren Ginger, Levi, and Camden Hill and Nathan, Lily, and Hazel Teates. She is also survived by her sisters, Catherine Badgett, Dorothy Badgett, Ethel Dunkum; one brother and sister-in-law, John & Barbara Woods; and many nieces and nephews. Many would remember her from her years of work at Lukhard’s Supermarket and in the cafeterias of Henrico County Schools’ Food Service. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Christian Church, 8469 Atlee Rd., Mechanicsville, VA 23116 on Saturday, July 1, 2017, at 11 AM. Graveside will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 4000 Pilots Ln., Richmond, VA at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity Christian Church. The family would like to thank Asera Care Hospice and Elizabeth House for their kindness and care.
Hazel was a wonderful, sweet and kind woman. She loved doing things for others. I had the pleasure of working with her for many years and she was a great friend to me. She will be missed. Prayers for her family that she loved more than anything.
My prayers are with the family. I met Hazel about 10 years ago while working at Hungary Creek Middle School. She quickly became one of my favorite people. Hazel was simply a joy to be around and her family meant so much to her. Peace is what Hazel has now and may her family find peace in remembering the happy times.
To Family and Friends: I was very sorry to read about the death of Ms. Johnson. It is my hope that cherished memories of good times you shared together will bring you comfort and healing in the days ahead. There is also comfort in knowing that God “is close to the brokenhearted.” (Psalms 34:18) Please accept my sincere sympathy.
