Obituary message
COCKRELL, Hunter Gates Jr., 86, of Henrico County passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Mr. Cockrell was the son of the late Hunter and Hilda Cockrell. He attended Washington and Lee and then served in the U.S. Air Force at Wethersfield, England during the Korean War. Mr. Cockrell later attended the University of Richmond. He was a member of the American Legion and the West Richmond Businessmen’s Association. Mr. Cockrell retired as a Vice President of the Wilton Companies where he worked for 47 years. He was a long-time member of Seventh Street Christian Church where he served as an elder, trustee and board chair. Survivors include his wife, Aletta K. Cockrell; children, Charles H. Cockrell (Carolyn), Elizabeth C. Bennett (Christopher), Ann W. Cockrell and Thomas S. Cockrell (Julie); step-children Veronica T. Hinckle (David) and H. Allen Thackston (Jill); and ten grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2pm Saturday, August 18 at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
