Ida Marie Williams, 75, of Goochland, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 1, 2023, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She never really liked being called Ida, preferring for family and friends to call her by her middle name, Marie.

Marie was loved by many and touched numerous lives with a light that refused to dim even in her darkest hours. Heaven gained a compassionate, kind, and beautiful angel when she left us and this world will be a little darker for her passing.  She will be sorely missed.

Marie was predeceased by her father, Prince William Cawthorne Sr; her mother, Annie Viola Mayo; her daughter, Patricia Anne Williams; her eldest brother, Prince William Cawthorne Jr.; her twin brother, Lawrence “Buck” Cawthorne; and youngest sister, Bessie Lyell. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harvey Lee Williams; sons Robert Clifton (Rachel), Christopher Shawne (Jes), and Stacey Lynn Williams (Cindie); daughter Pamela Marie Bailey (Kevin); and grandchildren Courtney Lynn Williams, Travis East-Jang (Samantha), Scarlett Rose, and Tessa Moon Bailey.  Also left to grieve are her sisters, Hazel Searcy, and Gaynelle Stallings; her brother,  Ashby Mayo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Henrico Doctor’s Forest for the amazing care she was given in her final days.

Marie requested a Celebration of Life be held in her honor as opposed to a traditional funeral service. We invite all of her loved ones to join us in celebrating her life at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 at Arvonia Christian Fellowship, 197 Old Rt 15 New Canton, Virginia 23123.
