
James Alfred Seward
August 4, 1952 – September 17, 2023
James (Jimmy) Seward, 71 of Aylett, VA passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends.
At the age of 17, he served his country and joined the Army in December of 1970 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from the Virginia Department of General Services (Commonwealth of VA) as a plumber after 15 years of service.
Jimmy enjoyed fishing, and hunting, as well as, going to the beach, mountains, and the river.
Survivors include wife of 50 years, Ruth; mother, Virginia Tokarz; niece, Chelsa (Tyler) who was like a daughter to him; sisters, Debbie Marshall (Dick), and Rita Watkins (Mike); sister-in-law, Faye Reid (Robbin); numerous nieces and nephews who more like his children; his best friend, Jerry Cauthan; his river family, especially Jimmy Hall and Scott Gay who made his quality of life better. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland T. Seward; and sister, Shirley Preddy.
The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2023, with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Affinity Funeral Service, 8074 Mechanicsville Tnpk Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Gianni ad I are sorry for you rloss. We didn’t know Jimmy well, but we do know he was loved. Our condolences, Ruth to you and all the family.
