
James Ollie Stiebel
January 16, 1934 – October 31, 2021
James Ollie Stiebel, 87, of Henrico, claimed the Promise of the Resurrection on October 31, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Helen Cook Stiebel; parents, Esther Jones Hileman and father, Samuel Douglas Stiebel of Raleigh, NC; and brother, Sam Stiebel of Henrico. He is survived by his sons, Timothy Stiebel (Linda) and Christopher Stiebel (Nancy); daughters, Sheryl Rutherford Pittman (Walter) and Linda Shrawder (Joe); eleven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
“Jim” was born in Raleigh, NC, and spent the majority of his life in Richmond. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School and was a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion. He worked for Sunbeam Appliance Corporation before starting his own business repairing clippers and sharpening clipper blades. He loved camping with his family and friends all over the East Coast; the beach was his favorite destination. He enjoyed hunting with the family in Burkeville, Va. He was a member of Glen Allen Baptist Church and a member of the Men’s Open Door Class. He enjoyed playing golf in the Henrico Men’s Association and going on the Harris golf outings. Jim was a loving, supportive, dedicated father and grandfather.
On Friday, November 12, 2021, the family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., at Glen Allen Baptist Church, 3028 Mountain Road, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
