Janet Mary Titley

September 29, 1932-July 23, 2019

Janet Mary Titley, 86, of Richmond, Virginia, passed away on July 23, 2019. Janet was born in Farlington near Portsmouth, England on September 29, 1932. Her parents were William L. and Ivy A. Humby. During the Second World War Janet was evacuated to the Isle of Cumbrae in Scotland. In 1954 she graduated from the London Hospital School of Physical Medicine, and subsequently immigrated to the United States where she was a physical therapist, married Donald A. Titley, and raised three boys in Schenectady, New York. She and Don enjoyed 20 wonderful years in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. After Don’s death she moved to Richmond, Virginia, where for many years she continued her decade’s long association with various ministries serving the needs of the hungry. Another important activity was maintaining her amazing fitness by attending classes at the Shady Grove YMCA. Janet was killed by mesothelioma.

She is survived by three sons, David, Ian, and Peter, daughters-in law Kathy and Pam, and four grandchildren, Andrew, Allison, Sarah, and Alex.

There will be a private memorial service on Friday, July 26, and the family will host a reception from 3 – 7 at Janet’s home, 5249 Cobblers Stone Court, Glen Allen, VA 23059.
