Jaylene Marie Tower
November 27, 1962 – July 2, 2023
Jaylene Marie Tower, 60, of Hopewell, VA passed away on July 2, 2023, in Wonder City Rehab and Nursing Center.
Jaylene was born on November 27, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois. She only stayed in Chicago for about a week before her father gathered up the eight of them and headed out to the next destination and job. Her mother had to be a Saint! Jaylene’s hometown is Shelbyville, Indiana. She was the youngest of six with five older brothers. Jaylene always said, “Mom and Dad stopped when they finally had their girl”. She was tough or tougher than her brothers, she had to be. Jaylene’s childhood was spent traveling and living in many states across the country. Three of her brothers were born in three corners of the country. She was the quintessential Aunt Nene and loved her nieces and nephews greatly. Jaylene was her daddy’s girl who loved her country music and playing bingo with her mom. She loved every chance of visiting her Uncle David’s Campground and partying with family… she especially loved ‘talking trash’ with her Aunt Cathy and loved her dearly. Jaylene loved her dogs, Tippy, Bo, Angel Belle, and Brimley (whom she rescued from the streets and is missing her dearly).
Survivors include her brothers, John M. Tower (Judy) of Disputanta, VA, Mark A. Tower (Marisa) of Tampa, FL, Terry W. Tower (Lucretia) of New Salisbury, IN, and Barry D. Tower (Tina) of Shepherdsville, KY; nine nieces and nephews, John D., Brian, Allan, Amanda, Chad, Scott, Jenny, Jason, and Evelyn (step); 22 great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, John H. Tower; her mother, Verna Belle Tower; her brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Dawn Tower.
A memorial service is pending in Indiana. Date and time to be posted to Facebook.
So sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of Jaylene from when we were running around campgrounds as kids. Especially how she ran for help after I flew over the handlebars of an unfamiliar bike. Please know Roger and I are thinking of you all. She will be missed.
Our hearts break every day she is gone. Even though we didn’t talk much , we thought of you often. She was taken to soon. We loved you girl. Give a hug to all our family that went before you. We miss them also. Be in peace now.
