Jeanne Eggleston Napier

July 20, 1946 – February 16, 2023

Napier, Jeanne Eggleston, left us too soon on Thursday, February 16, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family. Jeanne was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

Jeanne was born on July 20, 1946, in Richmond, VA to Telford (Sr.) and Bessie O’Bryan Eggleston.

Jeanne met her husband Stuart in yearbook study hall and began dating him when she was 16 and he was 17. They married soon after high school and were married for 58 years.

Jeanne had two careers. She worked in banking for forty years, retiring from SunTrust Bank as a Corporate Trust Officer. After a couple of years, she wanted to be more active and took a job as an administrative assistant at Hebron Presbyterian Church, retiring for good in 2022. She enjoyed countless years as a volunteer with the Goochland Women’s Club, and Goochland Company One Auxiliary, holding many leadership positions as well as serving on various church committees. She loved traveling with her husband Stuart and being with her family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Stuart; one sister, Elizabeth Eggleston Jenkins; two daughters, Jennifer Dervishian (Bobby), and Melissa Newman (Steve); one grandson James Stuart Newman; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Stuart III, her parents; her brothers, Duane Eggleston and Col. (Ret) Telford Eggleston, Jr.; and her sister, Jackie Eggleston Willey.

A memorial service will be held for Jat at 11 a.m. on  Saturday, February 25  at Dover Baptist Church, 635 Manakin Road, Manakin-Sabot, VA 23103. A luncheon and visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall. Private interment will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff of Henrico Doctors’ Hospital Oncology Unit for their kindness and care.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society or Dover Baptist Church. Please leave online condolences for the family at:

Hi Jennifer. I hope you remember me. I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. I thought so much of her and enjoyed working with her at SunTrust. I no longer live in the Richmond area and have not for the last seven years. I am sorry for your loss. I am thinking of you, your Dad and sister. Your Mom was such a sweet person. God bless you all.
