Jeffrey Sean Waggoner
March 25, 1965 – August 19, 2023
Jeffrey Sean Waggoner, 58, of Chesterfield passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023.
He is survived by his brothers, Chris and Rick (Karen); and nephews, Bamboo and Indigo Waggoner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Bill Waggoner.
When Jeff was born on March 25, 1965, the doctors said he wouldn’t live past 18 months old. In spite of battling through 27 operations, 23 of which were brain operations, Jeff proved everyone wrong. Constantly underestimated, Jeff was full of fight and never gave up. Not only that, but as anyone who knew Jeff will tell you, he maintained a kind and considerate attitude. He cared immensely for others and did his best not to let his own sufferings get in the way of helping.
Jeff enjoyed many adventures, including several cross-country trips that took him to 30 states and parts of Canada. He was a member of the the Toys R Us bowling team and often cheered on the choir at West End Assembly of God during their rehearsals. He also had an incredible hearing that made it nearly impossible to keep anything secret from him.
Throughout his life, Jeff had an undying faith in God. He was surrounded by people who loved him and had a contagious humor that encouraged us all. In fact, his last 30 minutes on earth were spent enjoying one of his favorite pastimes, laughing at dad jokes with his brothers. He opened his eyes and smiled a few times, signaling that he understood.
Jeff, you fought an amazing fight that inspires us all! You are missed, but we also celebrate that your departure from this world meant leaving Cerebral Palsy behind. We can only imagine the wonders of God that you are enjoying now.
A viewing will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Skinquarter Baptist Church Cemetery in Moseley, VA.
Jeff, you have inspired so many your entire life on this earth. I remember the day you were born and the prayers that your dear grandmother and parents prayed over you. God’s promises then were that you would live a long life that would encourage others. God fulfilled His promises, allowing you to run your course, all in faith and to the glory of His holy Name! Though the years slipped away, and we did not see you as often as we would have liked, you were never forgotten! We love you and praise God for His faithfulness in all things!
Your cousins, Larry and Charlene Cripps
