John Anthony Everett
Dec. 30, 1960 – Feb. 2, 2022
John Anthony Everett, 61, affectionately known as “Tweety” or “Tweet” entered rest with the Lord on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.
John was born December 30, 1960, in Franklin, Virginia to Bertha M. Everett and the late John J. Everett.
He attended Portsmouth Public Schools. He worked at Newport News Shipyard for many years. His later years he worked in the landscaping business. He joined First Baptist Church in Franklin, VA at an early age. He was also a faithful visitor to Mt. Gilead FGIM throughout his years. John was a dedicated man that loved the Lord and his family with all his heart. He was loved by everyone that knew him.
He will always be remembered as a kind and gentle spirit with a contagious smile. He had a meek and mild personality and was the life of the party. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. His hobbies included: cooking, cleaning the house, fixing things around the house, riding bikes and we can’t forget watching football whether the Philadelphia Eagles were playing or not.
He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Everett, and sister Gwendolyn C. Hayes. He leaves to cherish his memories; his mother, Bertha M. Everett; son, Kevin L. Odom; grandson, Kevin L. Odom, Jr; granddaughter, Koa A. Odom; devoted sister, Angela L. Bailey (Gary); three aunts, Ernestine Kennedy, Margaret Hardy, and Mary Harris; four nieces, Cortina Cheatham, Lakesha Cheatham, Tanika Russell (Bryan), and Christina Bailey; two nephews, Ronaldo Everett (Meka), Eric Everett (Karen); seven great-nieces; eleven great-nephews; twenty great-great nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He will be sorely missed by his entire family.
His remains rest at Affinity Funeral Service: 2720 Enterprise Parkway, Richmond, VA 23294. On Friday, February 11th a celebration for his life will be held at 11 am at Mt. Gilead Full Gospel International Ministries, 2501 Mt. Gilead Boulevard, North Chesterfield, VA 23225. The viewing will be from 10 to 11 am at the church. Interment will be at Maury Cemetery.
