John Lewis Martin III

John Lewis Martin III, 82, of Glen Allen passed away peacefully on March 15, 2020.
He was a very active man and enjoyed biking to stay fit. John was loved and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lelia Brandis Martin; his daughters, Sharon Ferguson, Julie Martin, Diane Bray and Linda Plummer; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Marlene Miller; and a devoted cousin, Bobby Gregory.
A private family graveside service will be held.
Although our friendship was brief, there was an instant connection. John had an enthusiasm for living and for loving. His wife was the center of his universe. It was a privilege to have known him in his life’s journey.
Johnny was my very best friend from childhood through our senior years. I looked up to Johnny from the time we were young boys. I admired him for his dedication to his wife and family. We shared adventures, secrets and life’s learning experiences.
Most of our conversations revolved around politics, sports and religion. I will miss our deep discussions, I will miss our very special relationship, but most of all, I will simply miss my very best friend.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I only met your Dad once or twice but he always seemed so energetic and loved the outdoors. He will be greatly missed. I continue to pray for the whole family.
