Obituary message

BURNS, Joseph E. “Joe”, 70, of Henrico, passed away peacefully at St. Marys Hospital, surrounded by his family on Sunday December 2, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, John “Oney” and Jeanine Burns; and stepdaughter, Kim Saunders. Joe is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bonnie; 2 sons, Joe (Lisa) and Brock; 3 stepdaughters that he loved as his own, Sherri, Tammy and Lisa; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Jim Burns; and his precious dog, Elvis Presley. In his younger years, Joe was an avid bird hunter and owned and trained many championship bird dogs. In his later years, Joe owned the Chuckwagon Restaurant in Oregon Hill until retiring. It was then he took on two new careers, golfing on sunny days and playing cards when it rained. He was a member of the Federal Golf Club. Joe was a true gentleman with a kind heart, no one could ever fill his precious shoes. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Friday, December 14 at the Pine Street Baptist Church, 400 Pine St. Richmond VA 23220.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the SPCA.
