Judith Ann Johnson
December 17, 1955 – December 11, 2022
Johnson, Judith Ann, 66, of Glen Allen, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 11, 2022, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Worthington, Ohio on December 17, 1955. She was preceded in death by her parents Roger and Eleanor Van Buskirk. She is survived by her loving husband Brad Reed; daughters, Grace, Mary, and Emily; and sister, Linda Koy (Joseph).
She graduated from UNC Charlotte in 1978 and was an accomplished medical technologist spending the majority of her 43-year career in the Bon Secours clinical laboratory division.
She was known for her love of animals, especially horses and dogs. As co-founder of the Shady Grove Running Group and a Sports Backers 10k coach, she enjoyed many races with her friends. Some of her favorite times were spent with family and her dogs, whether at home enjoying a drink on the patio or vacationing in the Outer Banks.
The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, at St. Michael, the Archangel Catholic Church, 4491 Springfield Rd., Glen Allen, Va. 23060 with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. A reception will immediately follow.
Her family would like to thank her care team at VCU Massey Cancer Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, or your favorite animal rescue.

And let the wind blow back your hair” –The Boss
Judy was a special friend and a huge source of encouragement. Her love for so many will be carried by all who knew her. Special thoughts and prayers for her family.
Judy was a coworker that I consider a friend as well. We had many a chat in the laboratory at St Mary’s. Prayers for her family.
Judy was a kind hearted soul who adored her husband and girls. She loved animals, especially riding horses and spending time with her dogs over the years. She loved her parents and was considered a Daddy’s girl. A faithful Catholic who had a strong passion for running and she shared that passion with others. The world lost a good soul but I know she is with her Mom and Dad, and God now, and at piece. Prayers and hugs for Judy’s family during this sad time.
Judy was a fellow coworker at St. Mary’s Hospital Laboratory. She was a very knowledgeable person. Very soft spoken and kind to everyone. Her love for animals especially horses was well known. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
I worked with Judy in the mid 90’s at RMH before moving to Florida. She was a wonderful supervisor and mentor. She is the reason I got over my fear of Blood Bank, and had I not moved, I was going to get my Masters in BB. I think she was involved in throwing my 1st baby shower too! Judy was kind to everyone, loved her family and animals immensely and had a great sense of humor. She touched many lives and will be missed.
God speed, Judy. 🙏🏼
