HANSON, Karen Patricia, 59, of Henrico, passed away April 6, 2017. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald Delos Hanson. She is survived by her wife, Sharon Myers; mother, Agnes Hanson; brothers, Greg Hanson and Wayne Hanson; beloved cat, Kitty-Girl; and a number of caring friends. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. .

Some of my best childhood memories were the years when Karen and I were best friends. We spent countless days exploring the woods and streams near our houses, playing basketball and tag football with Greg and Wayne. We always went trick or treating together. Karen and I were a formidable team for Field Day at Turkey Hill School and proudly wore our first place badges from our shoulders to the floor. Karen was the strong one and I was the light one.
