
Lee Roy Edwards Sr.
August 4, 1929 – January 12, 2022
Lee Roy Edwards, Sr., 92, of Latrobe, Pa., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, in Richmond, Va., with his loving daughter by his side.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma (Daugherty); his youngest son, Paul Edwards; a brother, William Edwards (Betty), and a sister, Viola Bost (Tom); and his beloved mother, Mary (Emmert) Weaver, and stepfather, Jim Weaver.
He is survived by his sons, Lee Roy Edwards, Jr., and Richard Edwards; and daughter, Cheryl Yarbrough (Jerry); granddaughters, Aimee (Sarver) Kidd, Alyssa (Neurock) Cary (Chris), and Christina Harris; his beloved great-grandchildren, Autumn and Sylas; his loving niece, Kim and her husband Craig Coursin, whose selfless caring for him will never be forgotten; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Lee was a skilled auto body repair and paint specialist who took great pride in his work. After his retirement he enjoyed golfing, bicycling, and taking the cherished family dog, Zimba, on long walks. Throughout his life he enjoyed friendly competition with family and friends playing backyard games such as croquet, badminton, horseshoes, ladder ball, cornhole and bocce, as well as card and board games.
He was a happy-go-lucky man who had great faith in our Lord Jesus and the power of prayer. He loved sharing stories of his childhood and life experiences, especially how prayer helped him through difficult times.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 331 Weldon Street, Latrobe, PA 15650. A casual celebration of his life will be held at Mammoth Park in Westmoreland County, PA, Pavilion #2, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers please consider a memorial donation to Trinity Lutheran Church or the American Heart Association.
