Lydia Amanda Jennings

Aug. 26, 2003 – April 24, 2022

Lydia Amanda Jennings, 18, of Richmond passed away Sunday, April 24, 2022 at John Randolph Medical Center.

Lydia Amanda Jennings was born on August 26, 2003, to Wanda Parker Ravin and William Kenneth Jennings. Lydia attended Amelia St. School from 2005-2011 from ages 2 to 8 years old. For junior high school, Lydia attended Elko Middle School in Henrico County and for high school she attended Motoaca High School. She successfully graduated from Motoaca on July 7, 2021. After graduation, Lydia attended day support at Soar 365 in Richmond and Chester, VA. Because Lydia was totally dependent on her caregivers and not walking, she did not work.

As time progressed, her mom and stepdad got married and along came her baby brother, Michael. He was a blessing and a miracle. While mom was in the hospital delivering Michael, her big sister, Joy, stepped in to take care of Lydia at home. What a blessing it was to have a sister who was taught and trained to take care of her younger sister. She was Lydia’s second caregiver.

Lydia enjoyed going places such as the beach, the park, going to breakfast, lunch, or dinner, even shopping. She especially enjoyed when they would go to the beach and have a good time riding the go karts, merry go rounds, and going on the sandy beach watching the waves and sticking her little feet in the sand. She also enjoyed listening to Gospel music and danced, moving her upper body to the beat, and clapping her hands and saying “Yeah!” She loved the lord and attending worship service. Lydia’s favorite restaurant was Golden Corral on West Broad St. There she had a favorite waitress who was crazy about my baby girl!

Lydia was a sweet girl who kept a big smile and had a contagious laugh. Her favorite word was “ouch” and anytime anyone would say it, she would erupt in laughter. She was a people person and was a special girl who would make others see that even though you may not always feel like smiling, you can keep a happy heart! She truly knew that laughter was medicine to her soul and everyone else she was around in the world! “Boogy”, which was a nickname given to her by her sister, “baby girl” by many and “Sis! Sis!” by her brother. We will all miss you dearly. We know that to be absent in the body is to present with the Lord. God had to take you home! God had to take his angel, Lydia! Thank God that our baby girl is not suffering anymore and that she is with her Heavenly Father! God the creator of the Heaven’s and the Earth.

Lydia leaves to cherish her memories by her beloved mother, Wanda Parker Ravin; stepdad, Jeffery Xavier Ravin; father, William Kenneth Jennings; grandmother, Marion Parker; four siblings, Joy Elisha Jennings, Michael Joshua Ravin, William Kenneth Boyd, and Jane Marie Ravin; uncle, Randy Deon Parker; auntie, Angela Parker Brown; cousins, Nia Monet Brown, Randell Hope; late grandfather, Ben Parker Jr.; and a host of spiritual family, friends, case managers, teachers, and bus drivers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am Thursday, May 5 at Affinity Funeral Service – Richmond Chapel, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. Interment will be private.
