In Loving

Marco Calvin Lee

June 5, 1981 – April 6, 2024

Marco Calvin Lee was born in Memphis, Tennessee on June 5, 1981. He was a gentle natured young man who had a love for sports. He favored basketball and baseball, but preferred track and field. While living in Hawaii, with his military family, he ran track for his high school track team and they were able to qualify and participate in the Annual Hershey Track Meet, in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Marco was a kind son who could assimilate among any group that he encountered. Because of his extended travels during his parents’ military service, he developed a caring personality for the less fortunate. This carried over into his adult life where during his free time he volunteered to referee for a Virginia community youth basketball league. Marco also had an interest in information technology. After graduating from high school, he enrolled in John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA where he pursued higher education in Information Technology (IT). There he received an Associates Degree in Arts and Sciences. He then went on to further his IT career by pursuing and receiving an additional Associate Degree in Arts and Sciences from ITT Technical Institute in Richmond, VA. His first place of employment was with Capital One Financial Corporation. Following his love for travel, he was able to relocate to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for permanent employment. There his final pursuit of higher learning and achievement was a Bachelor of Science in Management at the National American University of Sioux Falls, SD. Marco also established his own private company, “Marco Polo IT Services” where his motto was “Nobody Deserves to Have Computer Problems.” He was very talkative and used this communication skill to interact with employees and clients alike.

Marco had an exceptional love for his son, Tyson, who was always at the forefront of his life. Their bond was truly extraordinary and continued to grow as the years went by. Marco was successful in creating a little “Mini-Me” of himself in his son. Coincidently, Tyson has chosen to continue the legacy when he enters the U. S. Army as an Information Technology Specialist (25B MOS) next month.

Marco departed this world on April 6, 2024, and will be missed. He leaves behind to mourn and cherish his memories both his parents, Gilbert and Evelyn Lee; one son, Tyson Lee; one sister Okima Avie; two nieces, Joi Avie and Rose Avie; one great-niece Annalise Holloway; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Pkwy, Richmond, VA 23294. Interment will be private.
