Margaret W. Hoots

May 27, 1928 – May 16, 2023

HOOTS, Margaret W., 94, of Norfolk, passed away to be with our Lord Tuesday, May 16, 2023.  She was born in Farmville, NC. on May 27, 1928, to the late, George S. and Stella G. Williams.  She was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Hatem, Telza Edwards, Ruth Fields, and Inez Street; brothers G. S. Williams and Bill Williams; son Ted Hoots; and son-in-law, Brian Foxwell. Survivors include her loving family husband, Larry T. Hoots; children Bob Hoots (Kim), Larry Hoots (Gina), Susan Duncan (Mike), and Debra Foxwell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graduated from Farmville High School, NC, in 1947 and was a member of the Girl’s Basketball Team where she was a Guard. Retired from the former Naval Air Rework Facility, NAS NORVA  where she also wrote articles in the Naval Supply Center Newsletter, “The Pelican Press”.  She was also a veteran of the Korean War (USMC), Member of Eastern Star Chapter 146 (Farmville, NC).

A long-time member of the former Norview Presbyterian Church, where she served as a faithful servant in many capacities such as a Deacon, and became a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church. She loved serving her community.  Active in the Norview Civic League, faithfully attended the Norview HS Alumni Meetings where her five children attended,  Norview Five Points Partnership NARFE, Gold Sector PACE Second Precinct, and Norview Post Office Advisory Committee.  Volunteered at Norview Five Points Farmers Market,

Honorable Mention for Crime Prevention,  Citizen’s Environmental Codes Academy where she was awarded the title Problem-Solver for the Second Patrol Division, Gold Sector.  But, above all, she loved and adored her family, cracking jokes, fist bumps, singing, dancing, and traveling.  She was truly a God’s Gift to all that knew her.

A Celebration of her Life will be held on  Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Calvin  Presbyterian  Church,  2901   E. Little Creek Rd.,  Norfolk, VA 23518.  The family will hold a private interment at Woodlawn Cemetery.
