Marie Louise Smith “Bunny” Carter
November 14, 1959 – November 26, 2022
Marie Louise Smith “Bunny” Carter, 63, of Chester, Virginia was welcomed into her Lord’s open arms on Saturday, November 26, 2022.
Bunny worked for Virginia Dominion Power for 18 years at the headquarters on Gayland Avenue, Castlewood Rd., and finally Dutch Gap Power Station. She was one of Virginia Power’s Volunteers of the Year in 1991 for her work with Tot Lots, Make a Wish, and the Special Olympics. Corporate layoffs in the 90’s allowed Bunny to pursue her true love of working to help others. She worked in the flower industry before landing at Advance Auto. She loved helping their customers. She later went to AutoZone where she worked until health issues forced her to stop.
Bunny was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Anna Smith; brother David; and sister Donna.
Survivors include her loving husband, Gary “Newb” Carter; two sons Greg and Matt; four grandchildren Ashton, Ayden, Mattie, and Oakley; brothers John Smith and Ricky Smith.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 17 at The Kings Korner Banquet Room at the Chesterfield Airport Terminal.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local animal shelter. The family would like to thank the family for all the support that the community has given them during this difficult time.
My sympathies to Newb, Greg, Matt, and all of Bunny’s loved ones. I worked with Bunny for several years at Grayland Avenue, and she was a wonderful friend. Her sense of humor was outstanding, and we shared a lot of great laughs. Thanks for those good times, Bunny.
