Martha Frances Woods Price

March 9, 1935 – April 23, 2023

Martha Frances Woods Price, 88, of Richmond, VA went to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2023, peacefully at home.

Martha spent most of her career working in the City of Richmond Court System and loved her job. She worked for eleven judges during this time and had many interesting stories to tell. She ended her career as Clerk of the District Court, Manchester Division. Her favorite pastime during retirement was reading and playing games on her iPad. She loved watching any TV shows related to the court system, especially Law and Order reruns. She also loved baseball, the Red Sox, and most recently Jose Altuve (Astros) was her favorite player.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Price; father, Henry Woods (Marie); Aunt, Goldie (Bob); brother, Gary Woods; son-in-law, Gary Gayness; brothers-in-law, Raymond Gibbs, Bill Myers, Jack Roach, and Billy Price; sister-in-law, Mae Snyder (Gene); and in-laws, Charles and Eunice Price.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Sharon Gayness; granddaughter, Jennifer Perkins (Ryan); great-grandchildren, Rylee and Carter; sisters, Kathy Gibbs, Carolyn Taylor (Leon), and Linda Myers; brother, Ronnie Woods (Becky); sisters-in-law, Betty Roach and Doris Price; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Washington Memorial Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the family home where we will share food, love, and memories. We will close the evening by stepping out on the deck, Martha’s favorite spot, to share God’s word and music by candlelight.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Jude or Hatcher Memorial Baptist Church.
