LEA, Mrs. Mary Belle Gorrell, wife of Grady W. Lea, died peacefully at home on July 17, 2016, from Alzheimer’s disease. She was born August 23, 1932 in Putnam, Okla., the youngest daughter of Clifford Glen Gorrell and Mittie Edith Haws Gorrell. Mary was predeceased in death by her parents; sisters, Dayle Denney and Dorace Bishop; and her son, Michael Gorrell Lea. She is survived by her husband; sister, Katherine Yerton; children, Karen Lea Conrad (Garey Conrad) and Jonathan Mark Lea (Carol Anne Lea); five grandchildren, and six great- grandchildren. A Richmond resident for 56 years, she was a community servant, homemaker extraordinaire and was past president of the Virginia Extension Homemakers Club. Especially talented with needle and thread, she leaves family and friends with many tangible memories of her creative talents in sewing, knitting, needlepoint, quilting and crochet. The family is very grateful for the compassionate and loving care provided by care givers, Marieta Macasaet, Leita Salen and Barbara Osei-Mireku, during her illness. A memorial service for Mary will be held at Affinity Funeral Service, 2720 Enterprise Parkway, 23294, 6 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016.
Aunt Mary was a beautiful lady, inside and out, and I loved her much. I am so sorry for your loss. Praying for all of you.
