WARREN, Mary Douglass Stokes passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Chippenham Hospital. Mrs. Warren was born November 14, 1936 to the late Richard and Mary Stokes in Lynchburg, VA. She was the loving wife of Fred “Skip” G. Warren to whom she was married for 57 years. Mrs. Warren grew up in Lynchburg and summered in Virginia Beach as a child. She graduated from Longwood College in 1959 and was in Kappa Delta Sorority. Her happiest times were spent in nature, on the tennis courts, and at the beach with her grandchildren. Numerous trips to Massanutten and the beaches of Florida brought great joy to her life, as well as numerous lifelong friends. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Karen Warren Hughes and her husband, Glenn of St. Louis, MO and Debbie Farrell and her husband, Joe of Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren, Riley and Colin Hughes of St. Louis, and Caitlin and Sean Farrell of Pittsburgh; brother, Richard Stokes; sisters-in-law, Jan Stokes and Anne Stokes; brother-in-law Tom Hilburn; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Walter Stokes, Ann Hilburn and Charles Stokes. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
